Adelaide Mackenzie lyrics & live video performance of ‘Daily Process’ for Locked in Live Festival 2020

It was an honour to open up for the www.lockedin.live festival earlier in June 2020. When Floacist asked me to open up i was ecstatic to be on stage again considering my March 21st album showcase had been postponed due to covid-19. Held at the awesome South London venue, Hideaway alongside musicians I sang a few songs including the title track of my first album ‘Daily Process’. See lyrics below

I feel that with the Black Lives Matter movement and recent worldwide protests following the brutal deaths committed by non-black police and racists upon several African American in particular George Floyd’s death this song is fitting to be heard and challenging us by asking ‘What are we going to do?’.

Here I’m singing ‘Daily Process” produced by Otis Kirton taken from debut 2006 album of the same title.

Verse 1

Morning new money’s tight and I have just got paid

After bills are through I got something left to make my way

But with all the news and fighting people see me and they say

What’s the use of praying when we all see judgement day

With the youts dem in the streets hustling hard to make ends meet

As they start to discover how the system as dealt with their fathers

As we walk a narrow way I can see our faith will pay

Chorus

What are we gonna do, what are we gonna tell our children

What are we gonna do when they are going through this daily process too

What are we gonna show are future what are we gonna say

When they are living in this world from day to day

Verse 2

All expenses have increased yet our finances lack peace

Till we start to wonder, whose agenda do we really sponsor

Generations seek for meaning how did God create for us to breathe with blood that speaks

What happened to humanity?

People are pressing as they try their best to make their dreams fulfilled

Men create disease so they can solve them for a special deal

They stole my mothers tongue I don’t know which tribe I come from but I’m an African original Nubian

Chorus

What are we gonna do, what are we gonna tell our children

What are we gonna do when they are going through this daily process too

What are we gonna show are future what are we gonna say

When they are living in this world from day to day

Vamp

What are we gonna do, what are we gonna say

They reap what we sow, what are we gonna do
